Christmas is Coming

Christmas is coming,
   The geese are getting fat
Please to put a penny
   In an old man's hat;

If you haven't got a penny
  A ha'penny will do,
If you haven't got a ha'penny,
  God bless you.

The Beehive

Wee little house with the golden thatch;
Twice I knocked and lifted the latch:
  " And pray is the mistress here? "
" In black stuff gown and a yellow vest,
She's busily packing her honey-chest;
  Will you taste a bit, my dear? "

I Saw A Ship A-Sailing

I saw a ship a-sailing,
    A-sailing on the sea;
And oh !  it was all laden
   With pretty things for thee !

There were comfits in the cabin,
   And apples in the hold;
The sails were made of silk,
   And the masts were made of gold.

The four-and-twenty sailors
  That stood between the decks
Were four-and-twenty white mice,
     With chains about their necks.

The captain was a duck,
   With a packet on his back;
And when the ship began to move,
   The captain said, " Quack ! quack ! "

This Year, Next Year

This year,
Next year,
Sometime,
Never.

Song For Twelfth Night

Lavender's blue, dilly, dilly, lavender's green,
When I am king,  dilly, dilly, you shall be queen;
Call up your men,  dilly, dilly, set them to work,
Some to the plough, dilly, dilly, some to the
   cart;
Some to make hay, dilly, dilly, some to thrash
   corn;
Whilst you and I dilly, dilly, keep ourselves
   warm.

For Want of a Nail

For want of a nail the shoe was lost,
For want of a shoe the horse was lost,
For want of a horse the rider was lost,
For want of the rider the battle was lost,
For want of the battle the kingdom was lost,
And all for the want of a horse shoe nail.

Mistress Mary

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
   How does your garden grow ?
With silver bells and cockle shells,
   And pretty maids all in a row.

St Ives

As I was going to St Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Every wife had seven sacks,
Every sack had seven cats,
Every cat had seven kits:
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,

How many were there going to St Ives ?

I Had A Little Nut Tree

I had a little nut-tree, nothing would it bear
But a silver nutmeg and a golden pear;
The King of Spain's daughter came to visit me,
And all was because of my little nut-tree.

The Fifth of November

Please to remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, treason, and plot;
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
